1. What platforms does QualityWorks support?

We support Windows 3.1x, Win95, NT (3.51 and 4.0), OS/2, Macintosh and a multitude of UNIX implementations.

2. Can I run scripts on Motif that were written for Windows?

Yes. Our scripts are completely portable. They can be written for any supported platform, and then be run on any other supported platform &emdash; with only minor modifications.

3. When can I actually start developing tests?

With QA Partner, you can start creating tests as early in your application's lifecycle as you want, even before all application code has been written.

4. If my application changes while I am creating my tests, do I have to re-create them?

No. All that is typically required is a modification to the test frame file, the file in which QA Partner stores a description of the application.

5. What is the underlying language used to write/record the scripts?

We use our own proprietary object-oriented language called Visual 4Test. While it is very "C-like", it was specifically designed for testing &emdash; with a unique set of characteristics and strengths that set it apart from other object-oriented languages. It is also very easy to learn, even for those unfamiliar with programming languages.

6. Can QA Partner handle my custom objects?

Yes, in a number of ways. First, because all custom windows inherit all of the methods we provide for our AnyWin class, you can interact with your object using low-level mouse and keyboard methods. You can use our "class mapping" feature to map your "custom" window to a standard QA Partner class, which will cause it to be treated just as if it were a standard class. When the use of low-level methods or class mapping is not feasible, you also have the option to make DLL calls from our Visual 4Test language or use our Extension Kit to write your own custom functions.
